Kitchen of Revolt is a practice-led research project exploring the monstrous feminine through personal memory, feminist theory and a Surrealist methodology. Drawing on a traditional Portuguese cookbook as archive and memory door, the work traces encounters with the monstrous through the kitchen, the grandmother, the mother and the self.
The project proposes the concept of cannibalistic desire - desire turned inward toward the self as a method of becoming. The practice includes ceramics, large-scale painting and a plaster-covered table and chair installation.
Fear and desire are not the monsters we were led to believe. They are the ingredients.
