Catia Silvestre is a Portuguese multidisciplinary artist based in London working across sculpture, painting and writing. Her practice is rooted in feminist theory, personal memory and cultural identity, exploring the monstrous feminine, abjection and desire through an autoethnographic and Surrealist methodology. Her work moves between the intimate and the visceral, the personal and the political, refusing resolution and opening onto new forms of knowing.

Her most recent body of work, Kitchen of Revolt, proposes the concept of cannibalistic desire - desire turned inward toward the self as a method of becoming, digesting the inherited past and birthing something new. Tracing encounters with the monstrous feminine through the kitchen, the grandmother, the mother and the self, the work positions the domestic space as a feminist archive where care and violence coexist.

She is currently developing a short story collection and an upcoming exhibition at Safehouse Peckham.
